This Privacy Policy explains how Shamed ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using Shamed, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account using Google Sign-In, we collect:
- Email address: Used for account identification and communication.
- Display name: Shown to other group members.
- Profile photo URL: Displayed within the app.
Device Usage Statistics
With your permission, we collect daily screen time and app usage data from your device, including:
- Total daily screen time: Aggregated time spent on your device.
- Per-app usage time: Time spent in specific apps selected by your group.
- Phone pickup count: Number of times you unlock your device daily.
This data is collected via Android's UsageStatsManager API and requires explicit permission. We only sync this data when you are a member of an active group.
Device Information
- Push notification tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens to deliver notifications.
- Device platform: Android or iOS, for notification delivery.
User-Generated Content
- Wall posts: Messages you post to group walls.
- Reactions: Emoji reactions to other members' posts.
- Group information: Groups you create or join, including names and settings.
Transaction Information
- In-app purchases: Records of credit purchases made through Google Play, including order IDs and product IDs (we do not store payment card details).
- Credit balance: Your current credit balance within the app.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service: Display your usage statistics to group members, calculate leaderboard rankings, and enable group competition features.
- Notifications: Send push notifications for group invites, wall post activity, and daily reminders based on your preferences.
- Account management: Authenticate your identity and manage your profile.
- Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix issues.
- Process transactions: Fulfill in-app purchases and manage credit balances.
Information Sharing
With Other Users
When you join a group, the following information is visible to other group members:
- Your display name and profile photo
- Your daily screen time and selected app usage statistics
- Your leaderboard ranking within the group
- Your wall posts and reactions
With Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Service:
- Supabase: Database hosting, authentication, and backend services.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: Push notification delivery.
- Google Play: Payment processing for in-app purchases.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
Data Retention
- Active groups: Usage data is retained for the duration of group membership.
- Ended groups: Historical leaderboard data may be retained for group history purposes. If you leave after a group ends, your participation is anonymized.
- Account deletion: Upon account deletion, we delete your profile, usage data, wall posts (anonymized), reactions, device tokens, notification preferences, and transaction history.
Your Rights and Choices
- Usage stats permission: You can revoke usage access permission in your device settings, which will prevent new data collection.
- Notification preferences: Control which notifications you receive (daily reminders, group invites, wall activity) in the app settings.
- Clear usage history: Delete your usage data and leave all active groups via Privacy Settings.
- Delete your account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data via Privacy Settings.
- Leave groups: Exit any group at any time, removing your data from that group.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, row-level security policies, and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
Children's Privacy
Shamed is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
